Fashion Photography

This intensive product / food photography class is a great resource for any shooters looking to increase their knowledge of successfully lighting an array of different products. Be prepared to delve into styling and lighting hands-on, as notoriously tricky subjects such as glass and metal are covered. Student will emerge with both practical and experiential how-to. Students should bring their own SLR camera.

  • Introduction to Photography

    Meaning, definition and History of photography

  • Camera

    Basic camera, different parts of a camera and their basic function, camera accessories.

  • Types of camera

    Classification of cameras on the basis of film size, focusing arrangements, viewfinder systems and general usage. 35mm compact, 35mm SLR, Digital SLR, 120 film type TLR and SLR, instant (Polaroid) cameras, large format cameras and various digital cameras, Construction of digital image sensor, Pixel, Resolution and Sharpness.

  • Filters in photography

    What is a filter? Types of filter, U.V., Polarizing, ND, Soft Focus and other special effect filters

  • Modes of Camera

    Shutter: Construction and types of shutter. Shutter timings and shutter speeds. Use of specific shutter speed depending upon lighting conditions, type of photography etc. Diaphragm: Construction of a diaphragm. Aperture and their corresponding f-numbers. ISO : International standard organisation. Different uses of ISO, ISO settings

  • Exposure

    Meaning and definition of Exposure. F-number and shutter speed relationship, equivalent exposure settings.

  • Raw, JPG and TIFF

    Understanding of different formats and resolutions of photographs

  • Focus

    How to focus the image manually and auto, Focus area mode, AF Mode etc...

  • Picture Style

    Picture Style function brings together the settings for image processing parameters (previously tone curve, sharpness and contrast) and colour matrix settings (previously standard, portrait, high and low saturation and Adobe RGB).

  • Histograms

    A histogram is a graph counting how many pixels are at each level between black and white.

  • Depth of field

    Meaning of depth of field, different factors affecting DOF such as aperture size, subject distance and focal length. Making use of the knowledge of DOF in photography.

After a close assessment through the portfolios, the selected candidates will be called for a final settlement of admission and submission of the fees. There after the admission will be confirmed.

The transfer / change in the course applied and once admitted will not be entertained under any circumstances.
Once a candidate is admitted for a particular course, no portion of the fees will be refunded under any circumstances.

Assessments of students work both projects and assignments are made on regular basis. The perfection in all such works is expected. The skill, quality of work, techniques, originality, professional perfection etc… in their works are evaluated and corrected where ever necessary. Hence the process of assessment is carried out by the faculties from time to time.

All the classes, outdoor and indoor sessions, group/club meetings, lectures by the main & visiting faculties, guest lectures, submission of projects/ assignments are compulsory for all the students. Any violation in this can cancel the admission and or cancel the allotment of the certificate to the concerned student. On the other hand students are given enough time and guidance for the preparation of the project/assignment. The submission of project is compulsory and so they are given another chance to prepare their assignments if it is found to be unsatisfactory by the faculty.
