Nisarga is a unique architectural marvel nestled in Angamaly, Kerala, designed by Wallmakers. This vibrant space serves as both a family residence and a cultural hub, blending innovation with community engagement. It embodies the vision of harmonizing architecture with nature and tradition. The hub stands as a testament to sustainable design and creative reuse of materials.
One of the hub’s most striking features is its innovative roof design, a sloping structure that integrates skylights while also serving as amphitheater seating. This clever design floods the interior with natural light and creates a versatile performance space that blurs the line between indoors and out. The construction itself is a marvel of sustainability, using Wallmaker’s patented Shuttered Debris Wall Technique to turn construction debris and local soil into load-bearing walls. Additionally, discarded racks and laterite blocks are repurposed for grills and verandahs, demonstrating a deep commitment to environmental responsibility.
Inside, Nisarga features open, flexible spaces that encourage floor seating, fostering a sense of community and cultural connection. The use of natural materials and warm tones enhances the welcoming ambiance of the interiors. Every detail of the design celebrates innovation, tradition, and environmental stewardship. Nisarga ultimately stands as an inspiring model of how architecture can shape both community and consciousness.
