St. Andrew’s Basilica is one of the oldest churches which exists in the Alappuzha district of Kerala having historical and religious importance. Dedicated to St. Andrew, it forms a popular pilgrimage center among Catholics, especially from the Syro-Malabar and Syro-Malankara communities. Thousands of devotees pay a visit every year, especially during the Arthunkal Perunnal festival. Due to its architectural beauty and spiritual grandeur, it is a Divine Sign of Faith.

The roots of the basilica date back to the 16th century when something miraculous occurred. Local fishermen found a statue of St. Andrew, which they believed marked the site as sacred, a Divine Sign of the apostle’s presence. Over time, the church became a major pilgrimage destination in Kerala, drawing many to honor St. Andrew.
