Celebrating Life
Through Learning
Creative Hut Institute of Photography & Film—India’s first residential photography Gurukul—offers a campus life where learning extends beyond classrooms and cameras. Students live and learn together in a fully residential setting, combining rigorous practice with cultural immersion. A year-round calendar of festivals, workshops, study tours, exhibitions, and nature-based activities builds teamwork, discipline, and industry readiness. From Onam and Holi to night shoots and campfires, every experience strengthens community and professional confidence for careers in photography, cinematography, and visual media.

Celebrating Together
Student-led festivals, guided by mentors.
At Creative Hut, campus life is a shared experience shaped by students themselves. Every celebration—be it a festival, event, or creative gathering—is initiated and organized by students with the guidance of mentors. From decoration and photography to stage performance and coordination, they take ownership of every detail.
Students contribute their time, talent, and resources to bring each celebration to life. With faculty support, they learn to manage tasks, lead teams, and express themselves creatively.
This Gurukul way of living encourages not just participation—but meaningful involvement. Through these shared moments, students build confidence, leadership, and lifelong bonds.

Vidyarambham | First Day at Gurukul
A sacred start to learning.
The journey at Creative Hut begins with Vidyarambham—a traditional ceremony that marks the start of learning. Rooted in India’s ancient Gurukul system, this moment is not just symbolic; it’s deeply personal. Each student steps into the Gurukul with a clear intention: to learn, live, and grow with purpose.
On this day, students offer their respects to knowledge, mentors, and the creative path ahead. It's not a formal lecture or a typical orientation. Instead, it’s a ritual of reflection—quiet, focused, and filled with meaning.
For many, this is the first time they experience education as a shared way of life. And for everyone, it becomes a moment they’ll always remember.

For every new batch, Onam is the first big celebration at Creative Hut—and one of the most unforgettable. Rooted in Kerala’s culture, it brings students together in color, tradition, and joy.
The entire campus gets involved. Students create intricate pookkalam designs with fresh flowers. They dress in traditional Kerala attire and welcome Maveli, the mythical king. Onam Sadhya is served on banana leaves with nearly 18 items—a shared feast prepared and enjoyed with enthusiasm.
Games, dances, songs, and even a playful tug-of-war fill the day with laughter. Many students experience Onam for the first time here, regardless of where they’re from. It becomes a moment of shared belonging—and marks the beginning of a new creative journey together.

River Diving & Swimming | Nature’s Playground
Nature next door, done safely.
Just behind the Creative Hut campus flows the peaceful Pannagam River—where students dive, swim, and splash together almost every day.
It’s a shared tradition, especially in the mornings and evenings, offering both fun and refreshment. The river isn’t too deep, and the activity is monitored for safety. Faculty ensure safety, and students are allowed only in front of the campus where mentors can watch.
We do not allow river activities during heavy rains. Still, on most days, this natural setting becomes a space for joy, bonding, and balance—a refreshing part of the Gurukul life.
-
